I know he is a boy and the book is pretty clear that he is a boy so this confuses me...help!

Well prior to the release of Half Blood Prince it was pretty vague whether Blaise was a chick or not. And many fan fiction authors used their creative license to make that decision. Probably if you see any new stories where Blaise is a girl then the author felt that he needed to be a she to better suit their own plot.

Well to put it simply a lot of girl writers I know like writing Blaise as a girl. And most people write Blaise as a girl being very annoying.

But I personally like funny best friend of Draco, guy (Blaise). Sometimes a evil one is good too.

I think the reason is that Rowling never gave a definite gender in relation to Blaise Zabini, and some fanfic authors took liberty. Its going to be interesting in HBP to see who portrays him.
