I live in a rural area also and I think the best prepaid plan is Verizon INpulse.

They give you unlimited nights (from 9:01pm to 5:59am), unlimited mobile to mobile (talk to anyone you want with Verizon for free at any time of the day). It's 10 cents a minute to talk to someone if it isn't past 9pm or if they don't have Verizon. They also take 99 cents out of the account each night for the unlimited services.

Like I said, I live in a rural area also and I get great reception with Verizon INpulse (unlike T-Mobile To Go where I had to go outside and find a signal). The service is pretty cheap for me because I mostly use my phone at night or I have friends that also have Verizon.

Verizon INpulse cards are sold in a lot of places now (Wal-Mart, Kmart, all different big named drugstores or wherever else they sell prepaid cards for prepaid phones). I spend around $15 to $30 a month on one prepaid card because I don't use my phone all that much and when I do use it a lot, I wait till past 9 so it's free.

Also, the phones are pretty cheap if you get them in the store (not online). They range around $30 to $200 in the Verizon Store. You cant miss them, they come in a package that says Verizon INpulse on them.
