You could always go to the police department and ask them to escort him off the property. You could suprise him when he comes home from work or wherever he my come home from and have the police there with a moving truck to pack all his crap. When he comes home and sees everything, you really won't have to say much. Just say you aren't going to put up with a mooch any longer and say get out! You aren't stupid. He is just taking advantage of you and sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself. It's never easy. I'm getting out of a abusive relationship too. But I left him. You go girl! Claim what is yours and show him he can't do this to you. Don't listen to his apologies. Just walk away from him. You can do it!

I was in an abusive marriage I was married to him for 18 years and i finally had enough of his hitting and calling me names and i had finally got the nerve to leave so one day I left with just the cloths on my back.I sad i was not going to be his punching bag any more. And you can do the same thing give it to the lord and let him give you the courage to leave like he did me. I wish you well

Mary, it sounds like he's using you. You did not do anything wrong here. You were good to him & honored your marriage. You can only control you & your behavior.

Since he is abusive & controlling, he has literally abandoned the marriage. There's nothing left to protect but yourself. You need to call a Domestic violence hotline and get advice.

Then get an attorney lined up for the divorce.

Action speak louder than words, just leave and go to a home for women, while there councilors will guide you to do the right thing for you to move on.

The thing is: you have a very low self-esteem by now. You know, taking care of the snake you will just get bitten, you are not to blame, but you need to get out fast. Do you see any future with him? NO!

The Police should know if there is violence.

Go to a church. A Priest or a Rabbi may give you a safe place and the words you seek.
