Ok to everyone who answered anything other than Hulk Hogan you are idiots. By what possible measure can it be anyone other than Hulk? He has made more money than any other wrestler by such a wide margin it boggles the mind.
If you argue anything else, I would say wrestling is fake and the argument ends. He is also more well known than any other. Even in the modern era, the Rock, and Cena do not come close.

Rey Mysterio coz he won the Royal Rumble, went to Wrestlemania and won the World championship by winning a tripple threat match(A very hard thing to do).Since becoming world champion he defeated many big names like J.B.L KURT ANGLE, MARK HENRY,RANDY etc .And he did not loose his title, he was screwed out of it by Chavo.Isn't he the greatest?
