What are the signs that your processor is going bad in your computer? I have an E-machine that is almost 4 years old. Intel Celeron 1300 MHz 1.30 GHs. Recently it takes up to 30 minutes to reboot and takes longer to load programs, and if a program takes awhile, it shuts down on its own.

Believe it or not, processors almost never go bad. You may have a heat-related problem, caused by an accumulation of dust or an ailing fan.

Other possibilities include viruses, spyware, not enough physical memory or too many programs starting up.

If you take care of the overheating, download Mike Lin's startup control panel and see what you have firing up. Unclick everything except for your antivirus software and reboot. You should see quite a difference.

Celeron is the most basic processor today. but it might not be the processor, It is mainly not enough memory or RAM that causes programs and startups slows because ram is liek a brain, a brain that can think how fast. I think that the celeron has nothing to do with it that much, but mostly your ram because when newer softwares come out they take more memory and ram from your comuter.

That could be a sign that a fan is not functioning properly, or that you have a virus or spyware.
Usually if a processor is failing, it does it all at once, poof.
Check to be sure the CPU and case fan are spinning at full speed.
I would take it outside and blow it out with compressed air, especially the power supply.
