why are people into rap and emo?? 1st off rap has no real instrument in any song.... and they all sound the same. always trying to be gangsta like.....
2nd emo is so lame, i mean play something better than three guitar chords in a song... where the heck are the cool solos?? and all the songs are sung by guys who dress like girls and sound like them too.... and all emo songs are about suicide and crap like that..... get a life and stop trying to get attention.
well just wondering whats up with this stuff....

This question can't actually be answered, because it's not an objective question, but I'll do my best to help you out.
Rap is legitimate music with its roots in a culture that's probably not your own, which is why you don't understand it. And no, it's not "black culture" because it has to do with the individuals that listen to it and not a group of peoples. Why do they have to use real instruments? If they did, what constitutes as a real instrument? Electric Guitars aren't capable of amplifying their own sound, so does that make them any less of an instrument? What about singing? I'm under the belief that singing produces music. Rap has total legitimacy in its own right, I would recommend doing some reading on a site like Wikipedia, so that you can actually understand the music more, and blindly hate it less.
As for "emo," the answer is pretty much the same. If you don't connect with the lyrics, than you're probably not going to like it, that doesn't make it any less worthy of any body's ears.
I guess the only answer to your question would be, you're going to have to learn and accept anything that's not exactly the same as they way you want it.

I agree with rap and how it takes little talent to produce.
But as far as emo goes, just like punk, it doesnt always involve 3 chords and no solos. I can name lots of Emo and punk bands that dont use 3 chords..and do incorperate solos in some of their songs. Music has changed and ppl tire of hearing solos in the middle of every single song...It becomes too predictable and boring if there is too much structure. Many bands have developed a more primative, basic or expiremental sound to bypass that whole oldschool structured trend. And as far as Emo songs mostly being about emotional or sad themes, well yes, they usually are. By definition, Emo means emotional music. But that is the style of music they choose to play.. Music afterall is all abgout communicating a message. If ppl dont like depressive lyrics or the message then they shouldnt listen to that type of music. Just like if ppl dont like violence or hatred towards other human beings...they prob shouldn't listen to most heavy metal. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it.

well real emo music, is actually a form of hardcore.. believe it or not.
that stuff is good. the emo bands today like.. mcr, panic at the disco..etc, suck. but i listen to hardcore music and rap, because i like both. its not for attention or anything, because for one.. i dont really get into discussions about what kind of music i listen to with other people, and two, when i am listening to rap/hardcore i dont start singing/rapping, and i dont blast my music.

some people are more open to different kinds of music than others

You judge because it is different. You are not emo, so you can't relate, therefore, you dump on it to look smart.
