They would have no idea the animal was hit by lighting or not-however, some animals will avoid scorched or burnt meat, merely because it smells poisonous to them, and lighting will definately burn the animal it hits

They will. Mammalian carnivores, as a rule, are opportunistic scavengers. I can't think of any other carnivore (other than maybe a snake) that would not scavenge a lightning strike carcass. Very little of an animal killed by lightning is actually "cooked". Lightning takes a strait path through the substrate through which it is passing (path of least resistance). Animals are killed from the jolt going through their heart, not from a jolt over their whole body. If the bolt doesn't hit your heart, it doesn't kill you, that's why people survive getting hit by lightning.

Some carnivores do eat dead animals. There called 'scavengers'. The rest of them simply prefer their meat uncooked âº
