Honestly I think Jerry Lee Lewis has always been a little messed up in the head.If nothing else marrying a 13 year old relative makes him incestuous in a way and also a cradle robber. No child of 13 should be allowed to get married, and at 22, he should have had more sense and morals then to ask her. Doesn't exactly make him a pedophile, just sick in the head.

Yes, I agree. But you have to realize, back then, that sort of age difference wasn't looked down upon so much. Women were married at young ages quite frequently. And, marrying your second cousin isn't against the law, just tacky.

Considering this happened 50 years ago we need to remember that ideals have changed. During that era there were many parts of the South that were so isolated that marriages between cousins was not uncommon---neither were 13 year old brides.
This is were the term "kissing cousins" originated.

Im not the type to marry my cousin or a man who is quite a bit older than I, but if i was in love with him I wouldnt see why it would matter.
