Reykjavik, such a lovely country! I had a blast when I went quite a few years back. The best thing to do, really depends on you.
If you like older traditonal Irish pubs with lots of character then I would highly suggest checking out "The Dubliner" or if you want modern, new type place you could always to go the Hard Rock in the mall there. Then of course you could continue on to a night club to finish off the evening, again this completely depends on you and what your likes are.
There are several choices, many I didn't get to see considering I was only there for 3 days. So here is a link that you can look at to check out some other spots that may interest you.

I'm envious I would LOVE to go to Reykjavik over New Years. One day I will go back, might need to make it that time frame maybe =)
Have a Great Time and even though it is one of the safest countries I have ever seen (and I have seen a lot), still just be careful!

Definitely keep yer clothes on. New Year's Eve (December 31) - New Year's Eve is always a special celebration in Iceland when the entire nation goes all out with community bonfires, house parties, club outings, and fireworks that fill the night sky.
