Because they're not secure with their own sexuality.

I am going to only say this once here, so here it is:
Men are frightened by anything gay related because they fear their own emasculinazation. This stems from a fear of being "penetrated" and the status of women as "subordinated" and "passive." I.e. to be "penetrated" by a phallus, or interact with another man's phallus is to place one in the position (status) of women.
E.g. this is even reflected with the question: "are you a bottom or top?" A question that makes implicit connotations to status of aggressor or passive.
Men who have an issue with things that are gay related actually think very little of women, too. I am not saying that gay men *are* women. To clarify, it is in the sexual ACT that frightens some str8 (and gay-repressed) men.

Thats a social stygma. Men have been raised in a world where its a TERRIBLE thing for a guy to be anything but masculine, and anything femminine threatens that. A man liking a man is thought to be about as femminine a situation as can be so you get that utter fear of homosexuality. It's not about why are MEN scared of anything gay, its about why is society scared of anything gay.

True. Why not try frot? In frot, no male is penetrated. As a man of knowledge go to Heroichomosex.com. Frot will become the main thing once males figure this out.

This sort of fear exists with men who are insecure with their own sexuality. Most often they are very macho, have to be womanizers, and expel anything effiminate from their lives. They've been taught that femininity is a sign of weakness, and "real men" should never be weak. Since the traditional stereotype of homosexual men is flamboyant and feminine, these straight guys see that as a major sign of weakness and something to disassociate with, and when they can't, they often resort to drastic measures. But being feminine/gay is in no way a sign of weakness. Rather it's a sign of bravery to be yourself amidst fear and stigma.

as a heterosexual male, I can socialize and joke with a 'gay' man and not fear that I may be gay. Though I DO disagree with homosexuality, I am not, in the least insecure with my own sexuality. It's just a simple disagreement. Not a phobia of any kind. I don't claim to hate gays and all that 'manly' stuff either, I coexist with them just as I do with everyone else, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with their lifestyle, and THAT is what makes us all different.

wellz personaliy i'm not scared of any gay related stuff... to me is just a word to label. i don't see why other guys are scared of it. as from a stright guy point of view, the reason i can think of is that that person (guy) is immature and can't take it as a joke.

Tia and Creole hit it right on the head.
Supposedly straight men can and are attracted at times to other men -- but they don't want other people to know that. There is also a stigma attached to homosexuality among males that it is unmanly or effeminate to be sexually attracted to other men.

I think those who fear it are probably holding back from doing it.
I see no reason to hate anybody for their sexual preference unless it may involve children or animals.
