Hey...
If you want to try out something really basic, try the separation of simple suspension solutions such as precipitates formed by barium chloride, etc...
Else, if you want to do something very much related to biology, try separation of subcellular fractions from a cell homogenate by using differential centrifugation technique.
Again, the type of centrifuge utilized plays a major role. For the former, u will need only a simple desktop centrifuge, whereas the latter needs an instrument with greater RCF.

For centrifugation and separation suspend your mixture in sucrose solution or in cesium chloride solution or in do this experiment in two-phase system. The two-phase system consists of two immiscible liquids like polyethylene and glycol.According to the solubility property the two substances will be dissolved and thus separated in two different fluids. This is called partition coefficient.

why don't you try DNA.
Swish water around in your mouth. tehn spit into a glass
add soap and swish gently for 20 seconds.
Then, spin to put all of the dna on the bottom.
