If you run out of food, and do it humanely, can you legally kill your pet and eat it, maybe with a salad (dog goes straight to my hips)
Is it legal?

Well, cats are officially vermin so their deaths don't have to be reported if by unnatural means (such as hitting one in your car). Dogs are considered property so killing one is reportable if it's not yours. However, I don't see that either of these reasons prevents you from eating one if you own it and it is killed humanely. I'm guessing they would have to be slaughtered being mammals and so you probably need a licence to do it.
Amundsen ate his huskies on the way to the South Pole and apparently they are quiet tasty.

probably ok and maybe mostly legal if you don't tell the aspca
in Mayalsia there are restaurants that serve dog, the owners sometimes have pet dogs too
my guess is the more hungry you get, the less repulsive eating a dog becomes.
I would probably go a month without meat before killing and eating my dog. Depending on how much I loved it.

Obviously you can! Aren't cats and dogs animals? Yes they are! And as animals they are made of meat, which is food, right? People are animals too, but for some reason it's different for us! A bit like Apartheid!
You can eat any animal you choose, it's all meat! Look how the Europeans rear their pork to get a good idea of what's "humane"!

EVER put on topical flea treatments. Read the instructions & wonder WHY (even though YOU just put this stuff directly on your animal's back to SOAK into their skin, hair, & fatty layer) you need to immediately wash your hands. Ask you vet (or research) how many animals have been rushed to vet & DIED due to an overdose. Do you really want to eat an animal that has even a topical treatment like this?
Hopefully this is a better (& more educated respose) for you than what has been previously posted.
A GREAT website that talks further about the horse slaughter i

When you run out of food, eating anything is legal. Maybe you should rummage through your dustbin for appetizers first! A few blades of grass would double as a bowl of salad!

m, but I'd MUCH rather see a dog humanely slaughtered and enjoyed on the table than to see it chained in a backyard for years and kicked once in a while when its owner is in a bad mood. If people would think about things rather than make kneejerk judgements, they'd realize that's so much more sick/gross/mentally ill/ yadda yadda yadda.

By owning a pet, the law charges you with looking after and protecting that animal at all times.
To eat your cat or dog just because you 'run out of food' is murderous and totally asinine. And I trust that everyone that reads this question agrees with me.
I hope you are proud that you found the strength to ask this question.

I used to live by these foreign people who ate their dogs. Seriously, one day they had 5 dogs in the yard, the next day 4, the next day 3, and you get the picture...
And well, I didn't see them gettin hauled off to jail, so I guess it's legal.

Elf said you can go to the Salvation Army and get it there. Thanks Elf.
If you cannot eat your dog or cat because they are "domesticated animals", then what about people who keep pigs and chickes as pets? People eat pork and chicken , so what's the big f@cking deal, b1tch? Are you Vietnamese by any chance? If it's not human, then go for it. Pan-seared in garllic butter is the way to go. To all you tree-hugging hippies and PETA freaks out there: eat a dick, save a hotdog.

Whilst out in Nigeria, where my husband worked, they sold dog on the roadside, just like a hot dog van, it was known as 4x4!
I never eat it though!
Me thinks the RSPCA will get you if you do it in the UK!

Go to a local pets hop and ask. I don't think you feed them actual pieces of meat.
