John Lennon cheated on his wife, dumped her and abandoned his 3 year old son ( a time when a small child needs their daddy) for some wacko opportunist to be a full-time heroin addict.
He didn't talk to, even call his poor son for YEARS! "Imagine", ditching your 3 year old son and not even talking to, seeing him until he's 7 or 8 years old! then after that only seeing him a handful of times throughout his life?! That person is a piece of crap in my book. All you need is love?Call people you don't know and say "I love you" was what jackass Yoko and John suggested, He couldn't even call someone he knew! Now THAT'S a hypocrite!
Is that the liberal hero? Do as I say, not as I do to the core?

All my accusations about John Lennon come RIGHT FROM THE MOUTH OF JULIAN LENNON AND CYNTHIA LENNON.

Hey, I love John Lennon's music, but I think to idol worship him is such a sin being as his true character was so lacking and faulted. I think people need to get back to reality, just because someone is a good musician does NOT make them necessarily a good person!

Cherry blossom: what a joke. you think that Julian Lennon is just making this up? His own memories from childhood are false, hah? That's really amazing.

I never could stand John Lennon. I agree, he was a complete hypocrite. People who want to defend how he treated Julian, have no defense. He died with an estate of approximately $320 million and Cynthia and Julian lived on Public Assistance. Lennon was a creep, all right, but what does this have to do with Liberals???

All of us has faults. John was a musical genus. That does not mean he was the perfect father or husband. I submit that most of us have problems. In my practice I see parents with such behavior every day. In many cases, it is better for the child to not have contact with a dysfunctional parent.

Why would you care he was not a US citizen at anytime, he had to fight for four years to stay in America because the politicians did not appreciate his world view. How ironic that a bitter ex wife can say how her son had no contact with him...very hard to defend yourself when you are dead. So once again, you are uninformed and ridiculous. Have you figured out from one of your last postings that Russia is not a communist country anymore and has not been for years...or are you still mulling that over.

I don't know that they do idolize adulterers, etc.
Personally, I wonder why conservatives so often ask questions that are based on the stupidest, most ridiculous generalizations. If you can answer that question, maybe you will get better answers to your question.

It is not idolatry to listen to the voice of a man who has gone through and caused so much suffering that the experience led him to see some part of the truth. Many of the greatest voices in history speak out of great suffering in their lives. It is their personal agony that usually leads them to seek some kind of truth, and if they find any, their voice can lead others to do the same.

Before you throw stones at the liberals, take a close look at the lives of Rudy Guliani and Newt Gingrich, both of whom are conservative idols. Both adulterers, and Gingrich even served one of his wives divorce papers while she was in the hospital.
Don't go throwing stones. That is one big glass house conservatives live in.

anybody on Nixon's watchlist is ok with me.
when a rep claims they like "classic rock" its hypocritical. imagine an honest politician? you can't. regardless of whether they are a rep or a dem. every time lennon's name gets played on this website it puts all the reps panties in a bunch. kinda ironic,eh? what is more "classic" than a ex-beatle hippie.

I agree with you it's inane. I think that approving such horrid behavior allows libs to feel better about their OWN bad behavior, drug use, promiscuity, et al.
I met Julian in the 80's- as sweet a fellow as you'd ever want to meet. He deserved better from his Dad.

have you ever looked into the lives of our founding fathers?
ben franklin... tom jefferson to name a few?
great men often have great vices... seems to be a problem throughout history... not that it's an excuse...
but I'm not so sure Lennon fits into the great men group... he was a musician... good, yes, but I think you're getting out of the political realm a little here...
