hey guys, im a guy, and i need to get taller, as i want to be a police officer. im roundabout 5ft 9. and i wish to be atleast 6ft. i am going to take up swimming lessons in january, and i am also doin cycling at the same time. i hope swimming can make me grow a few inches, but im worried that as i am only 5 months away from turning 20, my chances of growing more are gone, and i will be stuck with this height. so will i be able to grow or not, and if i can will swimming help me.

p.s is it really difficult to learn how to swim?

i had asked this question before but didnt get the responses i needed. so sorry to bother again. i really need your help?? thanx.

if you tighten your fanny pach REAL tight it will make you an inch or so taller...and get some platform shoes like Elton John wears...that shoud put you to about 6 foot or so.

You don't have to be a targeted peak to be a police man anymore, there are feminine officers now and they are certainly rather brief. I've not ever heared of getting taller from swimming although is that actual? If so i'm going to take it up me thinks! You discontinue growing when your 21.

physical exercise will not increase your height at all, your muscle mass yes but its your skeletal system that decides your height and you cant alter that. But you may yet grow taller as i personally grew until i turned 21 not a lot but a few inches.

And being a triathlete, no swimming is not difficult to learn with the right teacher but does take time and practise to master and become proficient

It depends on the person. Age 20 does sound quite late to still be growing, but a few people do continue growing until they're 21.

So by all means give it a go, whether or not you grow you will get really fit :)

Swimming or any other exercise won't make a difference to your height (Genetics determines height) One way to determine height is to add your Mum & Dad's together divide by 2 then add 2". It is usually pretty accurate.
You also still have another 12 months to grow as the age you stop growing at for males is 21!
Hope this helps!

Learning to swim is easy > learning to swim like an Olympian is a wee bit harder!

swimming is easy to learn if you trust yourself and the instructor
It's also great fun and great for fitness but not getting taller
there are three main strokes - breaststroke, front crawl and backstroke. It depends on you which one you will get to like the most
I suggest starting with push, glide and floating first
Good luck if you go ahead with your wish
