welshchic - I'm impressed. Tell me more by e-mail. I'm a huge Pet Shop Boys fan.

Katrine - thanks for that. I'll click on and read it. The quote you write is spot on. I wish more people would buy Pet Shop Boys records. Neil Tennant is one of the most intelligent and interesting people in pop music, and Chris Lowe is an under-rated genius.

My pick would have to be What Have I Done to Deserve This. Dusty Springfield is such a wonderful choice for this song...she is like sunshine on a rainy day. : )

#1 It's a Sin because of the personal context in which it first became ingrained in my memory, which I'm not going to put on YA.

The entire 'Nightlife' album basically summed up dating in the late twentieth century. 'Happiness is an Option' was a good one on there.

I love what the reviewer says 'the Pet Shop Boys continue to write startlingly honest and lyrically pointed songs, despite 13 years of cultivating an image of vacant boredom and smug indifference'

And there were a few pretty good singles on their last 2-3 albums.

go west! When they appeared in the "Brit awards" a good few years back with the Onllwyn and Llanelli male voice choirs, wearing miners helmets, behind them singing, I felt proud, coz my dad did the composition for this! Onllwyn choir went on to to the advert for "ambrosia creamed rice", my dad had a hand in this Corney advert as well!
It was weird listing to him talk to Niel Tennant on phone whilst all this was being processed!

I think "What Have I Done To Deserve This" with the late great Dusty Springfield is probably my favourite.
