I am slowly cracking up trying to set this up so that I can send messages etc. I get this message:
The host POP3 could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. (the name I entered was POP3 as I don't know any server names)
Account: 'POP3', Server: 'Pop3, Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure (SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, error number Ox800CCCOD
I have absolutely no idea what any of this means. Is there anyone out there who could explain in detail how I might get to work this thing? I'm trying all day and at this stage my head's melted.
Your help would be totally appreciated.

Assume you are using sbc yahoo for a provider.
Thyey have a help page
http://help.sbcglobal.net/results.php?all=0&category=10
http://help.sbcglobal.net/article.php?item=287
Your provider likely has something similar. You need to know the pop (post office protocol) server for receiving mail and smtp (simple mail transport protocol) address for sending. Set it up as noted in the help page above. For common email address domains, the servers are below.
Your Email Address: Incoming (POP) Outgoing (SMTP)
MemberID@ameritech.net pop.ameritech.yahoo.com smtp.ameritech.yahoo.com
MemberID@flash.net pop.flash.yahoo.com smtp.flash.yahoo.com
MemberID@nvbell.net pop.nvbell.yahoo.com smtp.nvbell.yahoo.com
MemberID@pacbell.net pop.pacbell.yahoo.com smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com
MemberID@prodigy.net pop.prodigy.yahoo.com smtp.prodigy.yahoo.com
MemberID@sbcglobal.net pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
MemberID@snet.net pop.snet.yahoo.com smtp.snet.yahoo.com
MemberID@swbell.net pop.swbell.yahoo.com smtp.swbell.yahoo.com
MemberID@wans.net pop.wans.yahoo.com smtp.wans.yahoo.com
Incoming mail server: POP3
Incoming mail port #: 110
Outgoing mail port #: 25
To set up:
While in the Outlook Express, use the TOOLS menu command, go to Accounts. Select the Mail tab.
Select the ADD button to add your account, enter t6he display name (your name or whatever handle you use in email), email address, and at that point, your POP and SMTP is solicited. Use from the table above or as your email provider gives you.
If you don't know who your email provider is...look at the right of the @ in your email address. cutie@whitehead.com has the provider whitehead.com...go to www.whitehead.com and look for instructions.
IF you do not have an email address, just set one up in yahoo as nioted above.

You would need to call your internet provider ,,have a tech person walk you through setting up outlook express...different providers use different pop mail servers..I'm sure your ISP has an 800 number for support

Incoming Mail [POP3] should be the name of your ISP, for example, if you are using dworkyserver.com as your ISP, then this would be filled in as:
mail.dworkyserver.com
Outgoing Mail [SMTP] should similarly be:
mail.dworkyserver.com
or some such thing. Best thing to do is to call your ISP that you are using for your internet connection and ask them. Most often it is "mail.xxxxx.xxx" depending on what your ISP is.

If via default you advise which you incredibly choose it to open from IE 6 once you click the digital mail button, that is finished in IE: internet techniques>classes tab... Why could you prefer to? Outlook is extra finished featured and likewise usually extra helpful secure via digital mail antivirus scanners than is exhibit because of the way that particular handles mail attachments...

You need to enter the name of your intrnet provider. For example, if you get your internet from bobscable, then you would configure outlook express something like this
pop.bobscable.com
smpt.bobscable.com
Best bet though is call your provider or go on their site. Either way you will get the proper settings.

Depending on your ISP (internet service provider), you may have to call your connection something like "pop.dodgy.net"
Dodgy being the name of the isp. One of mine is with Google so my pop address is pop.gmail.com
I hope that makes sense.
