i think you should get the parakeet. because i had a guenia pig and it smelled aweful. And yes, of course birds smell too. but there way easier to clean up.

Actually you should get a dog. It is intelligent and affectionate. You can't very well cuddle a parakeet or a guinea pig.

I got a rabit once...unless you know what your getting into and are fine with their smell, don't get a rabit.
My point, go the bookstore or search online for info. Get the info. before you buy.
If you want something small, get a tea-cup dog, their so mall they fit into a tea-cup.
Birds are very good pets. An African Gray has the brain of a five year old child, they can truly understand and talk...With your devoted time...
Parakeets are nice, and can be trained, but I'd get a Parrot. They too come in different colors, and even sizes.
There's a great number of different Parrot breeds. Birds do offer great affection. But they need your attention, they can't be ignored. They need things other animals don't, and they can't have what other animals can.

You should try and pick a pet that compliments both your personality and your lifestyle. You don't want an overly affectionate pet if you are not going to be home very often because the pet will suffer in the long run. And you don't want a pet that isn't very active if you're looking to love on it and constantly expect activity from it.

I've never seen a guinea pig be affectionate, but they are cute. I think you should get a parakeet because they're smarter and sometimes you can teach him to do things.

My sister had a guinea pig and she was VERY affectionate...when she saw my sister she'd start squealling !!! But no one else..and when she'd have her out of the cage...Flower would snuggle up against her neck while she did homework...Go for that...
