why does it seem there are so many paritcipants that give the "thumbs down" to so many of the answers? And I'm speaking of what seem to be very good and appropriate answers. Does this ever seem to influence your abilty to earn points? Do questioners pay attention to these?

First welcome to our little corner of the world. The thumbs issue has been around for long time, several seem just to bounce around and pass them out to questioners, without even answering a question. But then again children will be children and the often bored times of such is a hard time of life to overcome. So in an endeavor to feel like they are grown the rest of us have to put up with all the fun of being adolescent. Don't let them bother you and just enjoy the answers and have fun.

Don't worry about the thumbs down if you've done your best to give a good answer. I got all these thumbs down once for talking about gun control and I'm not going to change my stand on that. When I give best answers I don't pay that much attention to thumbs up or thumbs down. Good luck. I hope you have fun here. :)

I pay attention to the question and the answers, if i think it is a really good question i will give a thumbs up and if i think it is a really bad answer (rude answer, spam, not actually answering the question) i will give a thumbs down otherwise i leave it blank.
Don't worry too much about it really.

I gave you a thumbs up fpr even asking this...but in response people have opinions...lots and lots of them...and a lot of them figure that their opinions are the only ones that are good or that count...so anyone who goes against that gets a thumbs down and those who agree with them get a thumbs up. People could be a little more open minded and understand that they aren't the only ones around. Anyhow hope that helped.

I dont really pay attention to the thumbs down. I think some people may be mean spirited and just want to bug people.

I suppose it is the way to express yourself if you like the answer or question.. I never give thumbs down never... it doesn't influence points in any ways or help or hurt you and I find it interesting who has a thumbs up or down but that is it doesn't change my answer or questions... welcome to the group hope you enjoy :)

Well first off "Welcome" to Yahoo Answer,who know's why people do that.Its like why do you always get that "****" that cant never leave a normal answer like every one else,they always have to leave a smart **** rude answer.That 9 times out of 10 has notthing even to do with your question,or you get that clown that doesnt even read your question right,and they feel the need to jump all over you.....Vote how ever you want,what feels like a good/great answer to you ( give them your best answer).
And to answer your first question,i dont really look at that.I go with the most funniest or most honest answer,depending on what my question is.....

I rarely give thumbs downs... Heck, I can't give any right now because I just started with this account. But it seems that some people get offended easily... that or either they don't like the person... or maybe the mouse slipped...

speaking from experience, i don't really pay attention to the thumbs up/down on the answers. it doesn't effect anything.
