A family friend of ours didn't know what he wanted to after high school except play his guitar. His parents wouldn't pay for college because his grades were bad, and he wasn't focused on school and studying, etc. He joined the Marines almost exactly one year ago, and that's pretty much all he has time for. Fortunately, he currently stationed the U.S. -but he does have his guitar now that he is out of basic and all of his training.

My husband who was in the Navy - said you probably would have no place to put in on board ship. He also said it all depends what branch of service you are considering.

Does that help?

Enlist and play your Bass on the side, if your musical career takes off then follow it... but the military is way more stable than being a starving artist.

You are confused.

Soldiers KILL PEOPLE.

Musicians MAKE PEOPLE HAPPY.

You cannot have it both ways.

If you want to play an instrument then go to Julliard.

If you don't have the money then you can join the Military and after a few years (If you are still alive) then you can join Julliard.
