I have the 60 gig video. i use about 12 gig of it for iTunes, and about 30 gig of it just as an external hard drive. it's really good for that. honestly, the most i've used the video part of the ipod video for is to get some video podcasts, but they usually wind up sucking and aren't really worth the dough. (also, it's important to note that i'm on my third iPod - they're pretty temperamental and break easily. that's why they have the good warranty that they have - they're about as reliable as hp computers!)

another option out there (which i'm seriously considering myself) is saying 'screw Itunes' and getting the new Microsoft's new player for around 250 dollars - the 30 GB ZUNE. that thing is SOOOOO much cooler than my iPod, it hurts....literally. it hurts. a friend just bought one. you can wirelessly transfer between devices, get radio signals, watch movies (on a bigger screen) and a whole lot more. i'd say the lamest thing about iPods is itunes music. it's not mp3s, but mp4s. it's proprietary to iPods only and you can only put them on five devices after you buy the song/album. that BLOWS! the MS one uses MS' software and sells you more standard format stuff, so if you wanted to put it on an iPod, or on a mp3 CD that plays in your stereo, or on anything else you could....and unlimited.

i don't know, it's up to you, but i like this one better!

take it easy

oh...and just so you know: there's absolutely NO sound quality difference between the iPod players like someone suggested. an mp3/mp4 is what it is, no matter what device you're listening to it on. (although i would suggest getting a new set of headphones for whatever ipod you choose - those earbuds sound like @ss!!)

i might say a nano- somewhat the third era.I very own one myself and that i on no account regretted making an investment in a single.the ipod nano third era is surely easy and finished of all the mandatory purposes. It helps you to play songs, video clips, keep photos, and eq the songs, and be on top of issues of the song you prefer-technically conversing- do lots lots greater suitable than a shuffle. until you're rather waiting to replace your songs many times and alter the songs you keep on the shuffle, you would be fairly unwell of listening to the same songs persistently returned ( no rely how distinctive the order could properly be) . finally- isn't the touch-clickwheel sufficient to tempt you to get a nano? the clunky buttons on the shuffle rather throws me offf. SO DONT HESITATE- get a nano even however its pricier- its properly worth each little bit of your funds(:

Depends on what you want
If you have a lot of songs or video, definitely video
If you don't have that many songs and like small things, nano
If you rarely need to listen to music on the go or want something cheap, shuffle

wtf?, you know there is like a $300 difference between the shuffle and the video right?, depends on what you want, if you want videos, then get the video. if you just want music and small size shuffle, if you want a little more space for songs and a display get the nano, but I think if you are getting one tomorrow then you should already know which one you want.

You should consider how much music you have or plan to have. A shuffle, while cheapest, only holds 250 songs (512MB) or 500 songs (1GB). An 80GB video holds about 20,000 songs. I personally have a 30GB iPod that can hold up to 7,500 songs.

I love my Nano. Anything else is just too much. Shuffle isn't worth it.

NANO!
Video: its HUGE, and pretty pricey
Shuffle: has no point to it, it just plain sucks
Nano: good size, good sound, and decent price
