Sorry to disappoint you but Mexico WAS NOT powerful Spain was when Spain lost to Napoleon the French sent a few ships with solders to Mexico who promptly surrendered bandits who were already in hiding from Spain started calling themselves revolutionaries instead ( how does robbing the poor of your country qualify you as a liberator ? ) so when the French lost to England their supply lines and pay stopped and they boarded ship to go home afterwords the bandits ran out of the hills started firing their guns in the air and yelling cinco de mayo we won ( this version is a lot closer than the Mexican history books give ) and then shot anyone who could have given them any resistance at all the only way Mexico can ever be anywhere near what it can potentially become is if the Mexican people start working together instead of coming here illegally and blaming it all on us

Learn about Mexican History. Learn Spanish. Be proud of your Mexican heritage. Travel to Mexico as often as you can. Invest in Mexico if you can. Write to your family in Mexico regulary, visit them every chance you have. Drink Tequila or Corona. Buy Mexican products. Don't go to Taco Bell if you crave Mexican food, go to real Mexican restaurants.
By the way, 5 de Mayo is not a relevant holiday in Mexico. Our independence day is on September 15th. For information purposes only, and to avoid other answers posted in your answer to become confusing, the Battle of Puebla (5 de Mayo) has NOTHING to do with killings, mugging, or anyone robbing anything or anyone. On the 5th of May we commemorate a Battle that took place in the City of Puebla, State of Puebla. In this battle we Mexicans were defending ourselves against the French army, who were trying to invade Mexico to impose an Emperor, Maximiliano de Habsburgo. By the way, England was not fighting with France over this... as a matter of fact, both of them, along with Spain, were allied against Mexico to claim some mone back, and arrived to the Mexican Coasts together. Both England and Spain left, and the French decided to invade. You can confirm this information on any history page. The date of the agreement between England, France and Spain is October 31st 1861 and was executed in London.
One economic piece of information that results very interesting is that Mexico is, in fact, the 9th most important economy of the world. We're not doing so bad, we just need a little more time.
One last recommendation. Do not believe the typical anti-Mexican propaganda that is spreaded along the web. Always ask for the source of the information people are delivering to you, take a day or so to review it, check your sources, and, normally, you will notice that once you start asking the correct questions, propaganda will crumble to its feet.

Get their power back .... I think you are dreaming. You talking about the power of the Aztecs 500 years ago, power of the Spanish over the Indios ... or the power of the rich over the poor.
You need to study your history. Also unless you are Mexican ... you can't be involved in Mexican politics

i think one of the things that mexico needs to sort out is the corrupt officials - that kinda thing just saps the wealth of any country
directly because people are having to pay bribes just to be treated fairly
indirectly because investors wont invest in a country that has a reputation for corruption
