Most of the time, unless it's a few select teams (miami or dallas) the home team wears a dark jersey and the away team wears white. But the home team can always pick.

Traditionally, the home team wears a dark jersey with light numbers and letters, while the away team wears a light (usually white) jersey with dark numbers and letters. The color on the jersey at home is usually largely dependent on the teams' primary colors. An example would be the Minnesota Vikings home jersey. It is primarily purple, with white lettering and numerals. Purple is the primary color of the Vikings, used in their end zone paint, as well as being used somewhat on their logo. On the opposite end using the same example, the Vikings away jersey would be primarily white, with purple lettering and numerals.

This is not always true, especially now days. Many teams use alternate jerseys, and those occur usually at home. (At least to my knowledge) A couple examples are the Miami Dolphins orange jerseys, and the San Diego Chargers baby blue jerseys.

Technically, home teams are supposed to wear their dark jerseys (vs. "road whites"). However, I think the home team can decide which jersey they prefer to wear for that day's game, though I'm sure they have some deadline day during the week by which to notify their upcoming opponents.

I think that for a long time, the Dallas Cowboys considered their blue jerseys "bad luck," and that's why you always see them wearing white at home. (Pretty silly if you ask me. I think their dark blue jerseys are pretty cool.) I don't understand why the league doesn't force the teams to go one way at home (and the other way on the road) - I've always thought the league should step in and mandate something. Then again, with merchandising issues and subsequent revenue (esp. with alternate jerseys and such), the league might be leaving well enough alone.

Yeah, they use new jerseys each interest. and a few gamers might desire to have thier jerseys cut back off cuz they're so tight. next interest you watch check out a lineman or yet another place and see how tight their jerseys are to them.

The cowboys wear white at home because they play lousy in blue. Those cowboys do everything screwed up because they are gay.
