an "american kiss"?

I have never heard this expression, but if I could choose one thing to describe an American kiss, maybe it would be when someone gives a hug.

It's rather unusual over here to give a hug, and each time somebody gave me one, that person was American !! I really appreciate it and even prefer it than the usual "kisses" given for every occasion !
