good radio.i have a uniden.i been in the cb business since 1977 and how you do it is.get a swr meter and a jumper cable, now hook it up to your radio and the antenna coax will hook up to the other side of the meter, now loosen the set screw on the antenna, turn on the radio, and put it on ch.1 and raise the antenna about a quarter at a time and tighten it,now key the mike(make sure the meter in on swr),wher does the needle point to?try to get ch.1 about 1.1 to 1.5,now do the same to ch.20 and then go to ch.40.try to get all channels, under 1.5,if you can.if they are above 1.5 it wont hurt anything,as long as it isnt above 3 onthe meter.10.4 good buddy?now you can shake the trees and rattle the leaves(thats cb talk lol)ill catch you on the flip side.iam always happy to help another cber.have a nice holliday.

easiest way is to go to a cb shop. check the following items. how long is ur coax? it has to be 102" long to get the frequency wave to hit at the right spot. also don't tie or wad ur coax together. spread it out and make sure it doesn't touch itself in a coil. this caused feed back and noise. next use a non tunable antena like a francis whip antenna. 4 feet is a good length. make sure your ground is very good and reliable. bad ground will ruin ur radio. if ur francis antenna and coax is rt length. then ur swr will be fine without a tune.mount ur antenna in the center of your ride if u can, with a metal flat area near for the ground plane to be good.

First use the instructions with radio to set the built in meter to zero. Then take your reading, if its above 1.5 start by shorting the antenna length. Check it at @ 1, 20 , and 40. If your ant lite is on when your talking then ground ant bracket and try again. Thx

you have to have an swr meter and hook it in line between the radio and antenna, radio shack used to sell them but I don't know if they still do, but if they have it the directions will tell you how to do it. Depends what the standing wave is but you either raise the antenna stinger or lower it to get the 1.1 swr reading, anything from 1.1 to 1.5 is acceptable as 1.1 being the best.
