i started to taste blood in my mouth the other day i could feel it coming from the back of my throat and when i spit it was all red,
now my throat hurts like hell and i have trouble talking sometimes, i don't have a normal sore throat as the pain completely goes and returns throughout the day so i think i have damaged or cut my throat inside somehow as every few hours i will get the blood back in my mouth.
so will this heal by its self or could it be something worse than just a cut?
please don't just answer with 'go see a doctor' because I am unable to do so for another week at least.

Okay I won't say go see your doctor this week, go next week. Until then only eat soft foods,like jello, pudding, mashed potatoes, mashed squash, overcooked noodles, clear soup broths only warm, not hot, boiled chicken cut up in really really tiny pieces, yogurt, cottage cheese, mashed bananas, anything you can find soft. Don't eat rice because if the cut is big enough it could get stuck....Gargle with Listerine or half peroxide half water four to five times a day because your mouth has a lot of bacteria in it, and if your throat is cut then you could get an infection really easily...Find a thermometer from someone. Wash the whole thing with alcohol($1.00) before and after each use...Let dry before you use it. Take temperature in the morning before you drink anything and in the evening after waiting 20 minutes after drinking or smoking. If temperature goes above 101 I'm sorry you will have to go to the ER....I hope this helps you. Feel free to email me and we will talk some more......

I can't imagine how you could get a "cut" in your throat. It is unlikely to heal by itself. It could be blood coming up from either your lungs or your stomach. Both of these are very dangerous. It could be a cyst of some kind that keeps rupturing. This is also very serious. If you are bleeding you are also more likely to end up with an infection on top of that.
I suggest you present yourself at the emergency room where they HAVE to take you. Or, call your doctor, explain the symptoms and why you cannot come in for a week or so, and see what the response is. Maybe he/she would take a post dated check.

I had something like this a year back. I took a blow to the jaw (no longer in a combat) whilst playing basketball, I felt high quality, yet there replaced into swelling around my jaw. I went to the docs once I continuously gagged up blood, and it seems a blood vein popped below my jaw. in case you dont experience a sting or discomfort on your throat section, that's no longer a symptom of throat maximum cancers. determine the section around your Adams apple is unfastened as oftentimes going on. If it hurts, bypass get it regarded at. choose you the terrific!

Some of the rubbish already written makes me go cold! You need to see a doctor ASAP. It may be a cut, but if it should get infected and start swelling you could die! Thats not being over dramatic, its a fact. Blood in the throat is not a good sign and should always be referred to a doctor. Forget NHS direct, they are a waste of space!
Good luck in getting it sorted soon...;

One possibility is that you might not eat enough. When you don't eat, your body rejects the acid in your body so blood comes up your throat because of hunger. And this can lead to diseases. I should know, I had this problem before since I never had time to eat being so busy during the day. So if you have this problem, just eat more.

It might heal. Make your appointment for the doctor because if it's not better in a week, you may have problems that need to be addressed by a doctor. I've had bloody coughs before just from irritation that were normal and went away, so I think you could be OK, but do go to the doctor and in the meantime, see if it gets better before your appointment!

If you really don't want to go to the doctors or emergency room (which I think you should), and you live in the UK, you can ring NHS Direct 24 hours a day on 0845 46 47 and they will listen to your symptoms and advise you of what they think. It is run by health service workers including nurses and doctors.
Please get help, I'm sure you don't want it to get worse.
Take care

Do you have a Walk In Centre, if so go, you don`t need to make an appointment. Otherwise phone your surgery again and explain the symptoms fully. Ask the receptionist to have a word with the doctor for advice. If all else fails and you are worried go to A+E.

first off Dont Panic!. ok wait another day and if the symptomsa are still there then i suggest you go to the Accident Emergency centre at your local hospital. in the mean time...instead of asking people on here... go on to google.. there are vaious sites.
