the wechsler indivual achievement test (WAIS) is the most common individual test given, as opposed to a group test such as the Iowa Basics, or a state specific test. The WIAS is usually administered in a battey of tests, usually to determine why a student might be having academic difficulty. the IQ test administered along with the achievement test are used in conjunction to determine learning disability. (ie, a high IQ and low achievement might indicate learning disability, whereas the opposite might indicate a high achiever; a person who has scores much closer in alignment would be considered to be performing and learning as expected.) hope this helps!
