I was hunting for deer behind my house and my shotgun jammed, would I be a better hunter if I?

had an assault rifle, how many times can you shoot a deer before the meat is ruined, (over 30?)

I'd like to think your joking but if your not you are just the kind of person that makes some folk favor gun control! Here in northern Illinois we (because of the dense amount of people) are only allowed to hunt with shotguns however they are equipped to use slugs which are a bullet rather than shot pellets! a shotgun set up this way is every bit as effective as a rifle only with a much shorter range(less than 150 yards) When deer hunting in this fashion you need to be much more aware of what you are doing so you can get within range to even get a shot! One shot is all that is needed when placed properly! I over the years have taken many deer and have only shot more than once a couple of times!

Hey! your not an idiot for hunting with a shotgun. But is that all you have? with a shotgun you will have to be pretty close to an animal as large as a deer to kill it with a shotgun. Yes a rifle would be better, longer shots. Now, if you would be a better hunter if you had one? well that depends on your aim. LOL
shooting a deer one time up close w/ a shotgun would probably tear it up pretty bad. Or if it didn't tear it up you would probably be eating alot of buckshot. With a rifle if your a good shot one shot is all you need. and it shouldn't tear up the meat to bad.

If you want to hunt deer you need to use a hunting rifle not a shotgun or an assault rifle. Where I come from a 10 year old child with a .22 can take down a full grown bull moose - with one round - the secret is to learn to aim. You don't need more rounds, you need to learn to put one into your target. Otherwise, you are -not- a hunter, you are just an idiot with a gun.

How FAR behind your house were you? Don't go for the assault rifle. If it jams, you'd just p*** off the deer, and some of them can get downright nasty when angered.

Be more careful next time... maybe take extra weapons with you. Think man! What if your family had to depend on you to feed them?

Although it may be tempting, DO NOT turn the weapon on members of PETA. They're sorta people too and deserve...... well, ... OK, I can't think of a good reason to not turn the weapon on them, but as far as I know, they probably wouldn't taste that good, so just fire off a coupla warning rounds and they should scamper off.

No , an assault rifle would not help you...
Best you stick to Wal Mart for your groceries..

lol... i'd say more than two and you don't ahve much meat left... also wanna aim for the head as the good meat is in the hind end. maybe you'd do better to call up your local police station or DEC and tell them you want a dear thats been hit by a car. they can call you when they get a fresh one. that way you don't ahve to worry about doing somthing like shooting your self in the foot, which seems mighty possible in your case... any who love the mullet...

try a tactical nuke, they rarely jam up, and you don't have to be a very good shot!
There is also the added bonus that the meat will already be cooked!
