Absolutely agree .. usually a DnC if the contents af the uterus aren't expelled naturally. Not an abortion, that is a different story altogether. Physically it should not affect you too much except for some bleeding, and cramping but mentally it can be very exhausting .. just make sure your partner and or family are there for you.

If there is no heartbeat detected, the doctor will do a D & C which is where they go in and remove the gestational sac and the no longer developing fetus. However, some docs will wait a little bit to see if your body will automatically expel it on it's own. D & C's are generally considered safe procedures but there are some complications that could occur. There could be scarring and infection which could lead to infertility later on down the road.

That depends on a lot of things. A DNC is the most common thing to do. I had one done before. But I was knocked out because I was in shock. Some Drs wait to see if you will naturally misscarry. Something I did on my next pregnancy, while I know may not have been right at the time, was go to the ER. I complained of cramps and they did an ultrasound. Turned out everything was ok. But I know how you feel. At this stage of pregnancy, you should go back to normal within a month or two.

If the doctors are sure that the baby is no longer alive, then at 12 weeks you will need to have an abortion because that is stage in your pregnancy the fetus is not classed as a baby yet. I am so sorry to here this and my heart goes out to you in this hard time. I am so sorry

Usually the fetus will expel itself if it is no longer alive. If it does not your doctor may have to do a dnc. which like a scraping of your uterine walls. They dont cut you open or anything like that. But it is a slightly uncomfortable procedure.

It is considered a still born and they will use the techinique used during abortions to remove the baby.
