Golda Meir was asked: "When doyou think there will be peace in the middle east?" She answered, "When the Arabs start loving their children as much as they hate the Jews."
She reflected on the use of kids as shields and today her fortuitous insight translates into homicide bombers and the mothers who accept the blood money of their dead children.
Those who believe Israel should give more land, are misguided. Israel knows that the Arabs, Iranians and Palestinians want their absolute destruction. They will not stop if you go back to1947 demarcations. They will want more and more. SO what is the point of playing Russian roullette with a full barrel of bullets eh?

Yikes, that's a tough one. I'm not sure it would result in peace, but...
I think Israel should withdraw from the contested territories, and remove all of their illegal settlements. Better yet, they should withdraw their borders to within the boundaries defined by the 1947 UN Partition plan, and agree to abide by its terms. They should generously and fairly compensate all of the Palestinians who still legally own land within Israel who have been forced out.
The US and UK, and other countries who have supported them despite their pattern of flouting UN resolutions and perpetuating violence, should cease looking the other way when that happens. US support should be made contingent upon Israel honoring its agreements, and should be withdrawn when/if they don't.
I sincerely doubt that Israel would ever agree to any of the above, or make good on it if they did agree to it. And, it might not make any difference to those who feel, with reason, that Israel exists entirely on stolen land. But, the region has been home to ongoing violence, death, and destruction for a long time. People are tired. If they saw that Israel, and the world, was going to make a real and good faith effort to bring peace to the area, and that the big powers in the world were going to be fair in their treatment of everyone involved, I think it would go a long way toward healing the divisions that have torn the Middle East part for so long.
If the above happened, but the anti-Israel factions and Israel still kept at each other's throats despite the inevitable cost in civilian deaths, then I think it would answer the question of whether or not there is hope for peace. It would be worth a try. Given the attitudes of those in power, I don't think it will ever happen, and the preservation of the status quo all but ensures there is no hope.
