It does not start with the government, it starts with the individual. Educating yourself on things that go on outside your own back yard is the key. Being educated leads to understanding which leads to empathy. Walking a mile in a Muslim or a Jews shoes would be a very eye opening experience for a Christian and vise verse.

I think the best way to promote racial tolerance, is to first end affirmitive action, it promotes the fact that we are unequal, secondly make people better informed and reform our education system, this doesnt mean more political correctness, but less, and finally I think we are about as racially tolerant as he can be, there is a certain level of intolerance natrually in all of us, we all desire to be around people who are like us, subconsciously.

This is more of a social problem. Of course legal organizations like the KKK and NAACP dont help pcontribute to tolerance. But they ae generally looked down upon. Many politicians do play the race card a lot and use their race as a basis to get into office. This shows their lack of maturity and disrespect for tolerance. I dont care whether you are male or female, black or white, rich or poor. It is what you stand for that counts.

I'm not so sure it's a government issue other than racism ought to be illegal on any level. Educators ought to step up for one. It's gonna take cooperation between individuals. There will always be one group wanting to stick to themselves and as long as no laws are broken they should be able to do that.

Ive often wondered what the outcome would be if all the religious leaders, of all different religions, would sit down together and come up with a solution, instead of the governments. Most intolerance comes from fear of the other religions.

Government cannot mandate tolerance, this comes about by the society, not the government or laws. It is an individual choice, and society molds that, not the government
