......? I hear of English majors getting recruited for training in finance - how does this work - is it as simple as applying for a job at a large company? What other business-related opportunities are available for us English majors?

My sister graduated from college with a BA in English and somehow managed to land a job as an HR (human resources) consultant with a mid-sized company.

Finance, I don't think it will be as easy to get into that field with an English degree. There are already a lot of finance and accounting majors that are graduating and designed to do that line of work. It can't hurt to try though!

There a variety of jobs within companies that english malors would do good at, for instance advertising, nothing throws a reader off more than a poorly parsed sentance.
