replace the pick under the coil pack, it is braking down after starting, it has a small wire in it after the engine starts it gets hot and pulls apart thus shunting the motor down

If there is good spark, good fuel flow and it still does that... Here are a few ideas short of getting it diagnosed at a shop...
1. Check the injectors... They may need to be cleaned... You can do this with a tooth brush... Or one just needs to be replaced... Check the voltage goin into them and the resistance... On OBD II there are many things that will give off signals that effect the rest of the vehicle...
2. Check all the vacuum lines If there is a leak or disconnected hose it will start and stall like that. (including egr check).
3. Check some of the other relays as well... Two cheap ways to check a relay; Turn it upside down and conect two wires one connecting to the negative and one to the positive... If you don't know which one just check all combinations as it will make a clicking sound at some point indicating it's working... Or jump the relay which is looking at the small diagram on the side of the relay and jumping the power source... This is not always safe though as there are voltage and amp limitations for some sensors or components...
4. Other things that will make your symptoms are crank sensor, cam sensors, maf/map, fuel pump, fuel filter installed wrong... Man too many things to write about...

Most likely the ignition switch has failed.
See if it will continue to run in the START position. Don't leave it there for long, just long enough to see if it will run, and if it will die AS SOON as the key is released. If so, consider replacing the ignition switch.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas
