I have learned for the most part, people do need help. But there are those out there who want to exploit that and make a profit, so the riddle then becomes how to tell the true from the fake? Some people dont help either way because they only feel they will be taken.
Me, I donate to an organization and get a reciept.

Yes. In 1986 I came across a book titled 'A Course In Miracles' that uses language from 3 disciplines (Psychology, Education, & Christianity). I have used the book for 2 decades and my attitude and perception about helping people in need has undergone a radical transformation. As Peace Pilgrim once said, if you would bring peace to the world you must be peaceful. In experiencing Inner Peace, I am able now to be truly helpful to those in need.

Yes. I used to walk right by beggars and homeless who asked for some change. Once I even asked a beggar for HIS change, after he asked me. He actually gave me a handful of change, and I kept it. My friend and I got a goood laugh out of that one. Well, now I'm a Christian(no church or anything like that, just a believer), and Jesus has a parable somewhere that tells His followers to give to those in need. I'm not a big bible reading guy. I like to stay in the present. Otherwise I'd give you the verse. So yes, my faith has changed my attitude.

2 years ago I wanted to go to Greece but there was no plane seat left, so I have chosen to go to Tunisia. Cultural shock is huge, couse life in Africa is hard. Seenig so many poor people changed me. Every person is changed once you go to Africa. If you are a real person with the soul. If I can make one person happy with small money I am helping them. By helping only one person you can make a world a better place. I advice every person who is most concern about what brand of clothes to wear to be in style to go to Africa. What you wear is irrelavant.

Yes. I learned about socialism. If everyone were to do everthing they could to help those in need we would become a socialist society.
I don't see socialist candidates out there (other than the one in Vermont), so I guess Americans aren't in favor of major changes.
