Billboard awards are given to those artists who have sold the most cds, and copies of song, so why do they even bother to have nominees? Record companies probably already know who will win because they know how much is sold from their clients.

Becauase the entertainment industry doesn't have enough award shows. You would think that the money earned for commercial success would be enough. Now they have to give out an award for making the most money.

Yeah, the watchers of the show don't know the final results. Therefore, they gather and keep viewers by building up the suspense. It also gets people to hope their favorites win. It generates more money.
