I think people just relate more to some songs then they do others, just like the person who made it, it just speaks to you. I think originalty makes a big difference too, why listen to something that you have heard over and over. You just feel it in your soul and you know what make a good song. Maybe words can't express it for some people though.

Pretty much everything you just mentioned makes it a good song to me, but if it has lyrics that really hit home, then I go damn near obsessive with it LOL There aren't too many I hear anymore that are like that, but the lyrics are what will make me listen to it over and over for months straight without getting sick of it.

Black ~ Pearl Jam
Basically just some real good songs that the first time you hear the lyrics, you're completely hooked. Sometimes the music part or the singing isn't so great (Black by Pearl Jam for example), but with what he's saying, you see completely past it.

Fast music. NO profanity, no screaming, no bad lyrics, no singers impossible to understand, NO one-sentence-sang-thru-the-entire-song, over and over again. NO singers that cannot sing (Janis Joplin is a good example). That is; no country, no rap, no heavy metal, no christmas sung by drunk men.

good lyrics and good guitar. I think Blink 182 has that in every song which makes them the greatest band ever!!!!!!!!!!!
