I'm guessind that's the lead role, because her name is the same name as the play, but my girlfriend just wants to know what the play is about, and what is her character like, and does she have a lot of lines.

Originally a Broadway play that opened at the Alvin Theatre on April 21, 1977. The New York production ran for 2,377 performances, making it the third longest running musical of the 1970s. In 1982, the movie version directed by John Houston (Anjelica Houston's father), was released starring Albert Finney, Ann Reinking, Carol Burnett, Tim Curry, Bernadette Peters, and newcomer Aileen Quinn from Pittsburgh, PA.
The idea of creating a musical based on Harold Gray's "Little Orphan Annie" comic strip originated with lyricist/director Martin Charnin. Playwright Thomas Meehan and composer Charles Strouse were initially skeptical of the idea, but Charnin quickly won them over with his enthusiasm for the project.
The story revolves around Annie, an 11-year-old orphan who longs for her parents to rescue her from the Municipal Orphanage and its mean-spirited matron, Agatha Hannigan. When billionaire Oliver Warbucks stumbles upon the little orphan and decides to adopt her, he must first deal with Miss Hannigan's opportunistic schemes.

OMG I love that movie, anyways the movie is about a plucky, red haired girl who dreams of life outside her dreary orphanage. One day, Annie is chosen to stay for one week with the famous billionaire "Daddy" Warbucks . One week turns into many, and the only person standing in the way of Annie's fun is Miss Hannigan, the gin-soaked ruler of the orphanage . Miss Hannigan's attempts to kidnap the irrepressible Annie
Also the movie is a musical annie has some what alot of lines because shes the main character but mostly she sings.

That is a major role. She must be real good! Congrats to her! Don't screw it up for her. Don't complain that she is taking too much time with the play and not paying attention to you. This is Annie, for God's sake!

Orphan that is rescued by Daddy Warbucks to come live in his big mansion. Then there is a terrible couple who try to claim that she is theirs. My sister was one of the orphans when she was a kid. I would suggest she rent the movie....it is a classic.
Oh, and yes she will have a lot of lines and she is the main character...CONGRATS TO HER! That is a great part to land.

She has alot of lines and she sings alot too. She even sings to a dog!!!
