Not on a Windows product. Windows has the Registry located in the heart of the Windows Folder. The Registry links other things besides the Photoshop executables so the software can run on Windows. On the other hand, I've read about VirtualPC and they do run Windows off USB memory sticks. You install VirtualPC, Windows, then any software onto the USB. A lot of the older Windows software will only install to the C:/ drive Programs folder.

It sounds like one of your shortcuts has forgotten how to find its program. Without being there to verify this, my best advice is for you to reinstall the program you are trying to open. You will need the program CD, your PC's recover CD, or the program installation file you downloaded from the internet.

To see what's on your hard drive, right-click on the Start button and click Explore. I'm afraid you won't know what to do with what you find there, so my best advice is still to reinstall the program you're trying to use.

I think that you can apply a system restore. Or I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems. Some RAM/ hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful

It should open with explorer. Open my computor, right click a drive icon, select open with, in the pop up box with all the progams listed, select explorer and make sure the check box is checked to always use ths progam.
