9inches. The spelling for the use of the word "too" in the way you have used it should be "to".

Even "auto correct" or spell check does not explain the wrong spellings of words such as too instead of to, their instead of there, etc.

Becoz of IMing and texting....we are so used to shortening words and using numbers as in l8er......... we loose touch with English.
I have something to add, i read in the paper a few months ago that in UK, they are going to allow students to answer papers in schools using texting language. When you do that, what else do you expect?

There are many factors. One is a lack of interest in the learning of standard English. Another is to blame the digital age. I have read many articles in psychological magazines stating that youth and "Generation X" parents spend more time learning cell phone text messaging and instant messaging spelling, such as shortening up words or re-writing words as part of a new "hip" language, that spelling has gone wayside. Other studies say that youth spend so much time text messaging in class they are not bothering to learn spelling.
It is a dangerous thing when it comes to most jobs and education because a spell checker on a computer does not always provide the correct spellings that one seeks on term papers, and jobs will instantly know people who are bad spellers may not be equipped to handle career occupations.

Well, I am certainly not losing any sleep over it myself. There are so many more things of importance to focus energies on. I do think it is important to spell correctly, but it also isn't the end of the world. I believe that Instant messaging and text services have made some of us creatures of habit.
Some people do have trouble with spelling..some people don't care. Doesn't really make a difference to me!

the reason people are forgittin how to spell is becouse one reason, and that reason is media.
media has abriveated everything like A.D.D. means stupid. i cant tell you what the letters of A. D. D. mean becouse i have never heard the actual words. thanks to the meadia tring to save time on their adds.
then there are the teen vs. parents privace war raging on. so the teens make more and more abrebations just so the parents cant read the text. thanks to the preasure of the media, and our weak minds.
how many of us wrighten or recived a single hand writen letter? most of us will say never. that is becouse all of those hallmark cards, and email and IM is soo much faster.
and anther reason why ppl cant spell is b/c they dont read. thanks to the media. the media has warped your heads into beliving that reading is for the nerdy girls and really nurdy boys. i say that b/c if you dont read you cant learn how to spell...
... p.s. i can't spell...

it may have been the way they were taught in school. most of the time its just because they are rushing and can't take the time. also the spell check is quite helpful.

Dude I'm not a hater. If some one doesn't know how to spell I will not go on a rampage trying to destroy them. We need fries with that, so let them be uneducated if they feel like it. O well to each his own.
