Jupiter has often been described as a "failed star" - it just needed to be a little bit more massive and we'd have had two suns. Not true - it would need to be about 75-80 times more massive. There's a lot of material in the Kuiper belt and the Oort cloud, but I can't see it all ending up in Jupiter.

It will be complete when Jupiter has acquired enough mass that the gravitational pressure at it's core is large enough to light off a fusion reaction. Then it will become a star.

Yea, right! The Federation, has transformed an inert nebula into a new planet teeming with life. Oh no, it has been said that Jupiter will be used this week.
