I think they might actually do worse, cause last year was their spot light year, and now they lost tom glavine and they might lose another significant player. They'll do good but I think philadelphia will give them a challenge.

The Mets are iffy to have the same record they had in 2006. While their hitting is probably one of the better lineups in the NL they do lack quality pitching. Glavine will be in the HOF one day but he is definitely on the downside of his career. Pedro is not expected back till early summer if he does return at that time. After those two, the pitching sinks to a very low level. Looks like Omar Minaya is a GM that depends on a good hitting lineup but he needs to go for pitching this off season. How did he let Pettite get away. Jason Marquis and Ted Lilly were just signed by the Cubbies though I can not believe Lilly got a 40 mil, 4 year contract. There were some pitchers out there but that pool is getting real thin.

If the Mets get good pitching in 2007, I think you will see them back in the playoffs.

jbari48 has valid points. The Mets need to shore up the pitching staff. I think Willie instills confidence in the team and they may surprise people and go another great season. I would love to see another repeat of the 1986 World Series, except this time maybe the Red Sox will take the trophy. No, offense to any Mets fan they are my second fav. team (my sons Favorite, something went terribly wrong at birth),You can GET tickets to see the Mets, although it was a little more difficult this year to get good ones last min. So, yea, I think the Mets may go all the way (inNLEast) they can't wind up in last that's already reserved for the Nationals.

If they trade Lastings for a QUALITY starter and sign Zito, this team will be better. I'm not to crazy about having Alou on the team. he is the same player as Floyd. Valentin did very well at 2nd, but is he good enough to play that well 2 yrs in a row? I was not jumping up and down w/ Green staying on either.
the good news is only Phillies are doing anything positive in the division. that team is descent, not good.
Cubs are getting better, dodgers made some moves in a weak division.. It might come down to Cubs and Mets for the series and the team with best SPs should win

mets will make it to the conference series and MAYBE world series

I'm pretty sure that they'll win the NL East division title again in '07. There's no worry with their bats and fielding. Pitching? I'm really worried right now. I think I'm going mad. They have no serious pitchers in their hands right now besides Glavine, El Duque and Billy Wagner. Pedro won't be back until the mid of the season. I'm really upset that they let Chad Bradford go. How could they? He's a terrific middle reliever. Willie has done a very good job so far in keeping his boys confident but besides that, terrific bats and fielding, again, the Mets desperately need pitchers.

As a Mets fan I should be saying all the way but..... If we dont get pitching soon I would say we will make the playoffs and loose in the first round. The bats are there and the fielding is there. Who is really shaking in there boots though, when they see the rotation of Glavine, Hernandez, Maine and Zambrano? NO one

Goes to show what you know Nader, they resigned Glavine last week. They did lose a few bullpen players, namely Chad Bradford (good player) and Roberto Hernandez (who is like 90 year old). Delgado resigned, we have money for another good pitcher and maybe another talented outfielder, I think the Mets could win the pennant this year and win the World Series depending how good the AL is this year.

well since that guy above me is an idiot... glavine is still a met. but anyway they wont be as good as they were last seaon... and philiadelphia needs more pitching to compete in that division. last year proved that great hitting wont even get you into the playoffs

I'm not real good w/geography .. but i'm thinking San Diego is probably the furthest they'll have to go.
