Most Rams in the market today come with a small chip that prevents the whole RAM from breaking down if one or more chips are bad. This is done by using a smaller chip at the edge of the RAM module (you must have seen the small black colored chip on one side corner of every RAM). There is nothing to worry about, most modern systems are designed to handle this feature quite well. This means you have lost 1 out of the 8 chips on your RAM module, but rest are ok so you can work with them.
If your vendor has given you a warranty that is still valid you are qualified for a replacement or repair.

Hi there
Your RAM is not properly installed. Shut down your computer and re-open the case, making sure you have disconnected it from power and discharge yourself of static before touching any of the computer's internal parts otherwise damage may be caused. Sometimes you may find that if RAM isn't installed properly, your computer doesn;t even start up. It may sometimes though which is what seems to have happened here. It happened to me when I did a RAM upgrade on my last machine.
Hope this helps.

I will assume that the Radeon 9200 with 128mb or ram is not intergrated. so try turning off the intergrated graphics card if that is the case then you will have more memory

The bios assigns memory to the built in video before the OS starts, so Windows never even sees it. It's normal. If you stuck a video card in and disabled the built in video you'd see the full amount of memory in Windows again.

sure 460? or is it 480?
NOTHING IS WRONG WITH YOUR RAM.DONT FIDDLE WITH IT !
please dont try removing it without wearing stat free gloves.else you'l destroy yor perfectly-running ram.
64 to 32MB of your ram is being shared. probably by the on board graphics(though u r using a g-card).
You can change this by changing the amount of shared memory in your bios to 0.(press F2 or DEL to enter bios during startup).

well if that GFX card of yours is built into the motherboard and not on a card, then that is using some of your main RAM as the video RAM. if you want all 640MB of RAM, then you better get a graphics card, make sure it fits your model!

Because some of that RAM is being used as "shared memory".
