Spybot - Search & Destroy detects and removes spyware, a relatively new kind of threat not yet covered by common anti-virus applications. Spyware silently tracks your surfing behaviour to create a marketing profile for you that is transmitted without your knowledge to the compilers and sold to advertising companies. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you haven't intentionally installed, if your browser crashes inexplicably, or if your home page has been "hijacked" (or changed without your knowledge), your computer is most probably infected with spyware. Even if you don't see the symptoms, your computer may be infected, because more and more spyware is emerging. Spybot-S&D is free, so there's no harm giving it a try to see if something has invaded your computer.

Each virus acts differently. Some will let you know they are on your computer by showing you messages that you did not have before. Others delete all your files in your computer and you cannot boot up to windows. Others put a huge message on your desktop saying that you are infected. Others are more quiet, still harmful and they can attach themselves to emails and send themselves out to your contacts. How to fix it? Well each is different so they require different approaches.

I hope that helps, Good Luck!

Nowadays, its so easy to find out if you have a virus or not. Please go to http://free.grisoft.com and click on AVG Free Antivirus. Download and install it. Then run a scan. If you have a virus, it will alert you and will ask you to either quarantine it (move to virus chest) or delete it. Choose the delete option. You are all set now.
