what are the motherboard coil's core made of?

I need to know It 'cause I have to build a coil and maybe I can use that core.

It should be a ferrite core (iron)

What the heck is a motherboard coil? You can build a coil with an air core if you want. Solid core coils are mostly ferrite.

probably best to remove one from an old motherboard, and see whats in it
