I'm not sure if you'd like this book.. But I've never met a person who did not enjoy it. It's called Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

Judging from the books you've read and enjoyed, my recommendation is "Justin Thyme". Like the "Harry Potter" series, "Holes", and the "Unfortunate Events", it's aimed at teens but isn't too simplistic, (at least, for those who enjoy the likes of Rowling, Sachar or Snicket). It's a fantasy adventure - but also a kind of intriguing whodunit with puzzling clues and hidden messages. It includes: the Loch Ness Monster, a teenage billionaire, a mysterious Scottish Laird, a celebrity cryptozoologist, a computer-literate gorilla, a Shakespearean gardener, a gigantic bald woman, and an eight-legged cat! The title character is a boy, but he shares the adventure with his 14 year-old sister - who was my daughter's favorite character in the whole book; she says the funniest things!

Try books by Tamora Pierce....they're really great fantasy novels....I would start with the Song of the Lioness trilogy

or try....

- Big Mouth & Ugly Girl by Joyce Carol Oates
- The Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot

and, of course, Louise Rennison's Georgia series. I'm 17 and I still can't get enough of those books!

If you like being thrilled or mystified, try something like Sammy Keyes books or the Charlie Bone series. A great fantasy author is Anne McCaffrey. She wrote many books including Dragonsong. A wonderful humorous writer is Meg Cabot. My favorite book by her would have to be Avalon High or All American Girl. Tamora Pierce (Trickster's Choice) is also amazing.

Have you tried the Harry Potter series?
Books I loved then included:
"A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" - Betty Smith
"The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter" - Carson McCullers
"The Pigman" - Paul Zindel
"The Chocolate War" and "I Am The Cheese" - Robert Cormier
Good luck and enjoy!

What about 'Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell' by Susannah Clarke? Or, you could try a book called 'Witch Week' by Dianna Wynne Jones, I remember liking that a lot. There is also an Australian author called Paul Jennings who has written a lot of books, particularly the 'Round the Twist' series. They are hugely popular in Australia and based on what you've said that you like above, you might like them too!

You'd probably enjoy Ursula K. LeGuin's "The Earthsea Trilogy" - three short novels:

A Wizard of Earthsea
The Tombs of Atuan
The Farthest Shore

And if you haven't read Tolkien's "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" - give those a try. I read them when I was about your age, and loved them.
