Mostly there's the problem of the balancing act between increasing security by decreasing freedoms. The government really doesn't have to do that much to protect us abroad since public awareness has increased so much (for example, the pure incompetence that allowed for 9/11 would be harshly criticized today and citizens' suspicion of Muslims make Islamic terrorists' job nearly impossible to do). A lot of the decreases in civil liberties in the name of security are thus superfluous as the government tries to take credit for the decrease in terrorism.

Quite a lot of problems. The Us has succeeded in alienating itself from pretty much the rest of the world. Your leaders rant on about the rule of law, but still went to war when international law forbade it. The US just makes laws up as it goes. When your own supreme court rules against bush and his pals, they change the law.
There can be very few countries left that actually respect the US now, britain does as its told cos theyre still paying the US for its belated help in WW2. Everyone can see that being americas friend today counts for nothing tomorrow. When Iran and Iraq where at war, Saddam was Americas best buddy, with your government falling over itself to give him money and guns to "protect the free world" against the raging ayatollahs. Bin Laden was CIA trained, armed and financed to help the afghanis fight the Russians when they invaded afghanistan.
And now your own goverment is terrorising its own people into giving up their civil liberties, well, not so much giving them up but having them forcibly removed.
All of this is very unfair on the american people, most of which are decent folks, but your media portrays you as a bunch of extreme right wing christian fanatics trying to fight a bunch of extreme right wing islamic fanatics. To the rest of us america and the arabs are just two sides of the same coin, and we just dont want anything to do wih either of you. Sadly the extremists rule on both sides but you are the rich and powerful warmongers murdering tens of thousands of poverty stricken people. You show no mercy, ignore the geneva convention, ignore the UN and the rest of the world and all because you want more oil.
Bear in mind that nearly all the 911 hijackers were SAUDIS, not afghanis or iraqis.
So far youve only spent 400 billion dollars murdering piss poor poorly armed people who cant fight back. What a sick twisted cowardly bunch of bastards run your country.
And now youve started a civil war over in Iraq you wanna run away with your tails between your legs claiming victory.
