A master's degree is the minimum qualification for many jobs. For instance, for teaching at the college level, a master's would be the minimum necessary to become an instructor. (A full professor would need a doctorate.) Many jobs in the business world, particularly managerial jobs, also require a master's degree. In many other jobs salary is commensurate with education and experience. That means, by and large, the more education you have, the higher the pay you will receive. Finally, of course, education in general is a good thing. By studying more, you know more. This is good both for your own personal development and for improving the work you do.

Wow Captain Broad, any more specifics? Well I'm going to use mine to be a Professor someday. It will be in Creative Writing, which gives you few other options. Masters today are like a BA a few generations ago, and BAs are like HS diplomas. Please, do elaborate so I can help. What subject? What do YOU want to do with it? I'll leave with a Yahoo survey done a few weeks back (these salaries are estimates from what I remember)
Average yearly salaries according to education:
No HS diploma--- $19,000
HS diploma--- $26,000
College Diploma---- $48,000
Gradwork (I.E. Masters and/or PHD)--- $79,000
I PITY THE FOO, THAT DON'T STAY IN SCHOOL!!!!
