condoms and lube
OK OK That was an inappropriate and rude answer. sorry.
Serious answer: gift certificate to Best Buy or to the local movie theater to catch a show. Everyone likes those things no matter the gender.

Just buy something for them as a couple. And with children ages 9 and 11, I don't think there is any point in hiding what's going on. I wouldn't go out of my way to tell them about it but neither would I go to any effort to hide it. Your kids are just about at the age where they've likely got it figured out already anyway. Just buy a gift for "them" as a couple and be done with it. Something you can eat is always a safe gift. Or a bottle of some really good wine or whatever... But to pick out an individual gift for somebody you don't know is really kind of silly (in my opinion). Call me Scrooge...

I think it is great that you are so open and accepting of this. You must be a really good mom for being so kind to your husband and his partner and not bashing them. I would agree with a gift certificate. You can buy a little gift box made specifically for gift cards. With a gift certificate they can choose whatever they want and it is still a nice gesture and not taboo like cash in a card.

That is very sweet of you. Since you don't know him how about something like a movie rental cert. or restaurant cert. Something generic and have the kids make a card to put it in.

Maybe you should buy the kids a real father.
No, seriously, I, wow, disgusting. You must be one highly medicated person to be taking this so nicely, are you really so nice? Do you really believe your kids are that dumb and if they are, they're getting older.
