Usually shutdowns like that are caused by overheating- it possible your heat sink assembly is loose or the cpu fan might not be spinning properly. If the processor gets too hot, the system will automatically shut down as a safety measure.
Get a can of compressed air and blow out any dust and debris from the system colling fan, make sure the heat sink/fan combo is still securely mounted. If the fan isn't working, you'll need to replace it.

The power supply is the most obvious thing but it could also be a problem with memory, the CPU overheating (Which can be caused by inadequate airflow or dust inside the case.) or even a defective video card can cause a pc to restart unexpectedly. Have you changed anything recently? Added any new hardware or software?

the first thing id check is heat, is the cooling system working???
you can find some free programs on-line to monitor the temperature of your processor.
also if you have ever removed the heat sink from the processor you need to put on new heat sink compound between the processor and the heat sink. that will only cost about $2 for a tube, i started up my computer without the heat sink one time and it only ran for about a minute before instant shutdown.
Good Luck

Sounds like a power supply problem or a grounding problem. UPS is not the problem unless you get a surge and your not using one.. Something may be getting too hot also.

I have had a similar problem. I looked in motherboard book and called the manufacture (i built mine), and they told me to dump the CMOS...try calling the company that made the CPU if you bought it...they are really help full in times of need. They manufactures told me how to dump the CMOS and everything. They said my problem was the CPU was overheating, so I added a few more fans

Do you happen to have a screen saver setting? Would be under Control Panel, Display. Check out all the tabs under there.

Power supply may be going bad, or some other sort of fault like mobo failing, and only apparent after heating up.
Good luck,
