Car can be either new or used. Performance is not a priority.Emphasis is on ease in getting in and out of the car, as well as comfort while driveing. As driver is only five foot one inch, car can be a compact. The less bucket in the seat (no bucket would probably be preferable if such a thing exists today)--and the higher the seat probably the better.

Dodge Caravan is a solid choice they are low enough to the ground to be easy to get in and out of the door opens wide and the seating is a bit higher than a car.

Subaru Forester is not a bad choice either as they are low to the ground yet somewhat tall and boxy allowing easier entry.

I sold a customer a car who had terrible back pain a Ford Focus, the new 2005 model and she says that it helps because her old car used to hurt her back when she changed gears.

So I would recomend a Focus.
