I have been researching this for myself. Women have different cycle lengths, and 28 days isn't the normal. More like 30 days. If your cycle (Day one is the day you start your period and ends on the day you start your next period) is longer than 35 days, there might be a problem. If your cycle is less than 20 days you could have a problem. If your cycles fall between 20-34 days, then you shouldn't count two weeks in advance. That is only for women with 28 day cycles.
You would add around 12-16 days from the start of your period and then try then. If you have sex too often then that can reduce sprm mobilty and quality. So trying to have sex between day 12-16 every other day is good. And before and after that try to maintain having sex every three days.
Eggs, once ovulated, are only able to be fertalized for up to 24 hours. Sperm though can live for 3-4 days in the tubes. If you want to get pregnant, then it is best to have the sperm waiting there for the egg.
I have found helpful advice on webmd.com and other sites. You can always talk to your doctor or go to the local library and read up on it. I have also learned that in every cycle you only have a 20% chance of getting preg. if all the conditions are perfect.
It also takes couples who are trying to get pregnant usually 3-12 months before they concive. Try to be positive. Hope this was helpful.

The best time to get pregnant is approximately 14 days or so before you start your period. Think about the number of days that your cycle normally runs. Look at the calendar and predict when your next period should be. Now go back 2 weeks. That should be the prime time roughly. Other indicators of good timing around that day will be a low grade fever and possible mid cycle cramping (both of which are related to ovulation). Hope this helps and good luck to you.

You need to buy an ovulation prediction kit. Many women have longer or shorter cycles than the normal 28 days so going by the 14 days after your period method might not be successful for you. An ovulation prediction kit will tell you exactly when you are ovulating. The best one out there I think is the Clear Plan Fertility Monitor. It tells you exactly when you have a higher chance of conceiving and which days are the best days to conceive. It's not cheap but it's really reliable. Good luck!

Right now is your most fertile time!
You ovulate roughly half way through your cycle. Once released the egg remians viable for fertilisation for just 12-24 hours! You can tell when you ovulate by taking your temperature every morning when you wake up. It will rise when you ovulate and will stay higher until your next period.
Also keep an eye on your mucus. It will become stretchy like egg white as you approach ovulation. Sperm can survive for up to five days in this most fertile typre of mucus.
You should wait until the day your period is due before taking a pregnancy test!
